Interview with Me!

How is your training going? Very good! I am feeling strong and enjoying the clinic I am taking. However, my hip is sore. I went to the chiropractor the other week and he gave me some stretches to do. However, this went in one ear and out another and my hip is still bothering me…so I’m TRYING to be better at taking the time to do the stretches he showed me. I’m also thinking I might book a couple more appointments with him. I don’t want to get injured this early on!!!

What is the one song that makes you really fast? Anything by Rage Against the Machine…I know it’s not a band played on KOOL but there is something about them that makes me feel powerful…and ANGRY!!! I also love the new Black Eyed Peas CD “The E.N.D”—here are some great running songs on there…OH and Kings of Leon too!!!

What do you think of when you are running? Everything. Seriously, I think about things that annoy me, things that make me happy, and things that I have to do. It’ personal therapy, I swear!

Who do you train with? I run with the nice people in my clinic. I also run with Robin Farrell’s BFF Kymm Buckham as she is fast and totally fit and makes me feel like a contestant in the “biggest loser”…but in a good way! It’s like having a personal running trainer!! I also enjoy running on my own on cranky days!!

How do you reward yourself? NOODLE BOX!!!! And a glass or two of red wine…tee hee….

Fundraising Ideas

I've been thinking of some fundraising ideas that you can do at the office—without a lot of costs and that can be a bunch of fun!
  • 50/50
  • bake sale
  • potluck
  • BBQ
  • garage sale
  • gift exchanges
Plus, these could be a good way to get your co-workers together for some fun!

Hope that helps!

Happy Training!

Holidays

I am on holidays all week, but I am not off the hook from training!

I am visiting my Mom over on the Mainland and we will be running together! She is actually quite a bit faster than I am, so I have some hard work ahead of me!

Having a running buddy helps me; if you don't have one, I recommend it!

Talk to you when I return—have a great week!

Me in Training

Well, I just started my training clinic for the half marathon as part of the Royal Victoria Marathon and so far, so good.

I don’t know why, but every year I get slower instead of faster, so this time I’m hoping to change that!

Running clinics are really good for accomplishing certain “running goals” because there are leaders and other runners that can give you advice—even with stretching!!

I was out for a run on Sunday with the running group and I told the girl next to me that the front of my right hip has been bothering me, and then she showed me a great stretch!!

I went to my chiro yesterday to get all straightened out and adjusted and sure enough, he showed me the same stretch that the girl in the running group showed me…who knew?

That’s the great thing about the clinics, it’s a team effort and you can learn from the other runners.

A lot of clinics are just getting started up now, so whether you plan on doing the full, half, or 8k run, now is the time to start training.

Good luck!

ABOUT TEAM DIABETES
Established in 2000, Team Diabetes is the activity fundraising program for the Canadian Diabetes Association. It provides thousands of people with the opportunity to either walk or run a full or half marathon, or shorter distance race in exciting Canadian and international locations such as Victoria, Reykjavik, Rio and Honolulu. We are also offering a number of cycling events for 2010! Team Diabetes not only prepares you for the physical challenge but also provides you with the support you need to achieve your fundraising goals. Team Diabetes participants are role models in their local communities and expose the reality of diabetes and the significance of the cause throughout Canada and abroad. They create lifestyle changes that reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes while raising funds in support of the Canadian Diabetes Association. Find out about Team Diabetes’ destinations in 2009-2010!
